Greene in conceipt

New raised from his graue to write the Tragique Historie of faire Valeria of London. Wherein is trvly discovered the rare and lamentable issue of a Husbands dotage, a wiues lewdnesse and childrens disobedience.   Received and reported by J.D. Printed at London by Richard Bradocks for William  Iones, dwelling at the signe of the Gunns neaire Holborne conduit 1598.

This book, published 1598 shows the "ghost" of writer Robert Greene still at work. Shakespeare helped to "re-animate" him by closely basing his play THE WINTERS TALE on Greene's PANDESTO. 

New Place

This drawing of New Place was mande by George Vertue in 1737. By then the house had come back into the possession of the Clopton family which had originally built it. It was demolished in 1759, with only a well and a few foundation stones remaining today.
